SOLO PERFORMANCES

With a background in dance & visual arts, Joy’s solo performances are an unforgettable spectacle to behold. Dazzling costumes, expressive movement, precise musicality, undeniable stage presence mixed with authentic audience connection and deep personal symbolism, Joy’s performances can be imitated but never duplicated!

Pride & Joy

A high-energy celebration of the queer femme! Created as the headlining act for What the Funk, BIPOC Burlesque Festival in Seattle, USA in 2023, with a costume (co-created with Sweet Carousel) in the colours of the Lesbian pride flag. Performed to a mix of queer indigenous Filipinx artist Mo’Ju’s Sweet Tsunami Symphony and Love Train by Third Wave, a funk group from the 1970s consisting of 5 Filipina sisters. The act is a blend of high-femme showgirl glamour, and unbridled joy.

Red Warrior/Ligaya

Inspired by the Filipino martial art of Arnis/Kali (bamboo stick fighting), a pre-colonial martial art form that was disguised as dance in order to preserve its integrity and hide in plain sight from the enemy coloniser. Red Warrior/Ligaya is an act about dance and sensuality as an act of resistance performed to LP’s Muddy Waters. Created with the support of MAI Montreal, arts interculturels and the mentorship of Loulou la Duchesse de Rière, performed at the Burlesque Hall of Fame, Movers, Shakers & Innovators Showcase in Las Vegas 2023.

Pinay

Dripping in gold - Pinay is an homage to the powerful Filipina. Performed to a mash-up of Filipino pop music’s most recognizable love song, Dahil Sa Iyo x Filipina Pride anthem, Ruby Ibarra’s, Us, and featuring fan work inspired by the Filipino folk dance of Singkil, this act is an unapologetic display of taking up space, despite societal expectations. This act is multi-award winning and was awarded the winner of the 2019 Edmonton Burlesque Festival Bunny Competition and the 2022 Burlesque Hall of Fame Best Debut category.

Love Witch/Diwata

The opulent showgirl uses classic burlesque high glamour and spellbinding stage presence to take the audience on a journey through the art of the tease. Never taking herself too seriously, the Love Witch/Diwata captivates her audience with her charm leaving their cheeks hurting from smiling and a lingering “what did I just watch?” when she leaves. This act was selected as a finalist for the Miss Viva Las Vegas burlesque competition in 2022.
